Intel’s highly anticipated XeSS Frame Generation (FG) and Low Latency (LL) Dynamic Link Libraries (DLLs) have been leaked ahead of their official release. These DLLs, vital components of Intel’s upscaling and frame generation technology, are now circulating among modders, particularly on the platform Nexus Mods. Intel’s XeSS 2 software stack, which parallels NVIDIA’s DLSS 3 and AMD’s FSR 2, includes separate modules for upscaling and frame generation.
Until now, the Frame Generation feature had not been publicly available. It appears the leak stems from a game patch preparing for the launch of Intel’s Arc B580 GPU, slated for next week. Nonetheless, Intel’s official XeSS GitHub repository does not yet list these files—the most recent update being five months ago for XeSS 1.3.1. The leaked DLLs are primarily of interest to modders and those adept at manually swapping files.
Intel XeSS DLL leaks surface
While the upscaling section of XeSS functions relatively smoothly, the Frame Generation and Low Latency DLLs require proper game developer implementation. There is uncertainty around whether substituting these DLLs for NVIDIA or AMD equivalents would yield functionality.
Intel’s XeSS library, now noted as version 1.3.2.38, is intended as a straightforward drop-in replacement for current implementations. However, the Frame Generation library, still in version 0.9.11.9, is expected to only be compatible with Intel’s Battlemage and Alchemist GPUs. Despite previous commitments, Intel has not released its XeSS technologies as open source.
The company is providing only SDKs and precompiled libraries, a strategy that seems unlikely to change soon. While these developments hold significant implications for developers and modders, Intel has yet to make an official statement regarding the leak or the forthcoming official release of these technologies.
