Apple continues to push the boundaries with the highly anticipated iPhone 17 Pro models. Analyst Jeff Pu from investment bank Haitong International has shared his expectations for the upcoming devices in a recent research note. According to Pu, the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max will feature a 48-megapixel Telephoto rear camera and a 24-megapixel front camera.

This is a significant upgrade from the current 12-megapixel Telephoto and front cameras found in the iPhone 16 Pro models. In addition to the camera improvements, Pu expects the iPhone 17 Pro models to come equipped with 12GB of RAM, a notable increase from the 8GB of RAM in the iPhone 16 Pro models.

The extra memory will enhance Apple Intelligence’s performance and multitasking capabilities. Pu believes the iPhone 17 Pro Max will sport a “much narrowed Dynamic Island.” This change is attributed to the device adopting a smaller “metalens” for the Face ID system.

If true, this would mark the first size reduction for Dynamic Island since its introduction on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max in 2022. Pu also mentioned unchanged display sizes of 6.3 inches for the iPhone 17 Pro and 6.9 inches for the iPhone 17 Pro Max. He also expects the devices to be powered by an A19 Pro chip manufactured using TSMC’s 3nm process, the same process used for the A18 Pro chip.

Apple is expected to unveil the iPhone 17 Pro models in September 2025 alongside the regular iPhone 17. As the launch date approaches, more leaks and rumors are likely to surface, providing further insights into the features and improvements Apple has in store for its next-generation smartphones.
