This page describes the editorial standards that apply to everything we publish on Killer Startups.
Our standards
Sourcing. Claims in our articles are traceable to a source. We prefer primary research, established publications, and reputable institutions. When we cite statistics or research, we link to where they came from.
Editorial review. Articles are reviewed before publication for accuracy, clarity, and source attribution. Sensitive topics receive additional scrutiny.
Editorial independence. Editorial decisions are made independently of advertising and partnership relationships. Sponsored content, where it appears, is clearly labelled. Affiliate links may appear and are disclosed; they do not influence our recommendations.
Corrections. Errors are corrected promptly and noted on the article. Substantive corrections include the date of the change.
Use of AI tools
We use AI tools as part of our publishing workflow. AI assists with research, source discovery, drafting, fact-checking support, and post-publication quality audits including broken-link scans and source verification.
Human editors review, fact-check, and approve all content prior to publication.
AI does not make editorial decisions — it does not choose what we cover, what angle a story takes, or what gets published. Those decisions are made by our editors, and editorial responsibility for accuracy rests with Killer Startups.
We do not use AI to fabricate quotes, invent sources, or present AI-generated content as first-hand reporting from real individuals.
Contributor identity
A named byline on Killer Startups identifies a real person who is responsible for that work. An editorial-team byline identifies a collective newsroom process, not a fictional individual. Before May 2026, some publications in the Brown Brothers Media network published articles under contributor bylines that did not identify real people, and some of those biographies included credentials that were not real. That should not have happened. Those bylines were retired in May 2026; the articles involved have been withdrawn, corrected, or reassigned to an editorial-team byline with a dated note, and that review is ongoing. Editorial responsibility for everything published here rests with Killer Startups. (Updated 16 September 2026.)
