Intel is preparing to announce its new Arc Battlemage GPUs on December 3. Leaks suggest that the company will reveal two desktop GPUs, the Arc B580 and Arc B570, set to launch on December 12. According to the leaked information, the B580 will feature 20 Xe2 cores, a 2.8GHz GPU clock, and 12GB of VRAM on a 192-bit memory bus.
The B570, on the other hand, is expected to have 18 Xe2 cores, a 2.6GHz GPU clock, and 10GB of memory on a 160-bit memory bus. Both GPUs will reportedly come with an 8-pin PCIe power connector and support for HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 2.1.
While pricing details remain unconfirmed, a product listing indicates that the Limited Edition version of the B580 could be priced at around $250. This suggests that Intel’s Battlemage chips are designed to compete with more affordable graphics cards, potentially undercutting the $399 RTX 4060Ti and the $269 Radeon RX 7600.
A new leak also suggests that Intel’s budget B570/B580 and AMD’s Navi 44-based GPUs can outperform Nvidia’s existing RTX 4060 Ti.
Intel’s new budget GPU offerings
However, the metrics used for this comparison are not specified, so it is best to approach this information with caution.
The gaming industry is closely watching the next-generation gaming GPUs from all three market players. Intel and AMD aim to expand their market share with budget graphics cards, as current-gen GPUs often face issues such as high cost, lack of VRAM, and a lack of new offerings for the budget segment. While Nvidia is expected to maintain its lead with upcoming offerings, AMD and Intel are targeting the mainstream segment.
If the performance metrics of Intel’s B570/B580 GPUs and AMD’s Navi 44 GPUs hold true, they could become very attractive to consumers, especially if Nvidia continues to ignore the sub-$300 segment with its future lineups. Intel is keen to see Arc Battlemage hit shelves by the end of the year, with GPUs from Nvidia and AMD following in January 2025. However, availability could be delayed by a few weeks.
Consumers should wait for independent reviews to determine if Battlemage’s performance and drivers meet expectations before making a purchase decision.
