I recall the first time Eric Clapton came to town. In those days, the Internet wasn’t as readily accessible as it is right now, or rather, the information that was shared was not that easily available.
You had to know exactly where to look and how. Back then, I was really curious about the set Clapton would play that night. Of course, he was going to play classics like “Badge” an d “Layla” and some new hard-hitting compositions like “Tears In Heaven” and “Change The World”, but what about some other hits? After all, he has always been characterized by more than enough signature tunes to play all day and all of the night. As it turned out, that night he touched on most emblematic tracks, yet he did not play “I Shot The Sheriff” or “After Midnight”. He did include some rarities, most notable a closing “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” which was a nice touch albeit a surprising one.
Needless to say, I wish I had known the setlist beforehand so that I would have known what to expect that night. If something like this has ever happened to you as well, then chances are it won’t happen again thanks to the Setlist.fm website.
Broadly speaking, the site allows anybody to upload current setlits for all to see. These can be looked up by artist and by venue, and also by tour.
