What is an Inspiring Story about the Startup?:
My wife is PhD chemist for a company in Columbus. She has to occasionally read through and get the gist of various articles throughout here day to day work. She would ask on occasion if I could run some article through ChatGPT to get a summary. After doing this a few times I figured this is a tool that more people would want!
What is a Company the Startup Looks Up to, and Why?:
OpenAI. They’re literally changing the world with their LLMs. GPT-3 is just the cusp of the wave and SciSummary is making it accessible to anyone who wants to run through large sums of data. Additionally, people don’t yet realize the power of these generative content language models. They will literally change the world, and SciSummary is just along for the ride.
The Company in Four Years Will Be…
The go to source for scientists who want to do research on various topics without having to read through every single article. We’re working on features to have a copilot when reading articles so you can not only get summaries, but summaries of specific information on the article. We’re very focused on bootstrapping this and I basically want to run it by myself until I can’t anymore. Not focused on profits but more on expanding science literacy and how research is performed.
