If you love a good practical joke via email, you might find Pranketh.com a useful partner-in-crime.
This ridiculously simple site lets anyone send an email to anyone else using a pseudonym to conceal their true identity; all you have to do is enter in a bogus name and email address, write your message, specify the unfortunate recipient, and hit send. You must agree to the terms of use which specify that the site is not to be used for malicious purposes. For those who don’t understand how something like this works, all the site does is link an HTLM form to PHP’s mail function, which allows your email to be sent anonymously.
Pranketh.com In Their Own Words
“Pranketh is a simple tool which allows you to send an email that looks like it came from someone else.”
Why Pranketh.com It Might Be A Killer
To make sure, I tested out the site on a friend of mine, writing an email that looked like it was coming from her disgruntled ex-boss. She was completely fooled, so it seems that the site certainly works and can scam the unknowing recipient.
Some Questions About Pranketh.com
Is there really a market for this besides 7th-graders? Anyone older might know how to check the original copy of the email for the header and discover the prank. How does the site expect to generate any profit? It’s not ranked on Alexa, so advertising might not yet be an effective means of generating revenue.
