First, you write a page of text. Then, another person reads it and contributes a new page of his own, respecting the tone and the overall theme. But that new page won’t become part of the book right away. Rather, members of the site’s community vote for the best pages that have been written. And only the one that proves to be more popular are added to the book for good.
And the process goes on like that: one person after the other keeps on contributing to the book, and people vote for the best pages to be added until the book is finished. As someone who loves writing, I can but find the idea interesting from a conceptual point of view. The execution might be a little… how to say it… cumbersome. Getting a book together like this could take ages. If you are a bit like Stephen King and are not satisfied unless you churn out 40 pages a day, this clearly won’t be for you. But if you are the kind who takes things slowly, one at a time, then PopuBooks will be worth a look.
