Also known as “Myeloma” or “MM”, Multiple Myeloma is a type of cancer that is present in bone marrow and it is generally deemed as incurable, albeit remissions may be induced by means of chemotherapy, steroids and stem cell transplants. The International Myeloma Foundation can be found online at Myeloma.
org, and it aims to improve the quality of life of myeloma patients, as well as working toward prevention and a cure. The site includes information and resources for those who have been newly diagnosed, as well as information on the different treatments available. Publications are also featured to these ends, and these include handbooks and reference books that can be procured online as PDF files free of charge. Inexpensive hard copies of said titles can be requested as well. Additional support is provided by the video and audio programs which can be found in the section entitled “Webcasts”. Information on seminars and meetings is provided as well, along with a calendar of IMF events and fundraising activities.
