Aman Gupta, co-founder of Boat Lifestyle, has called for celebrating “Entrepreneurs Ka Din” with the same grandeur as Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day. In a social media post, Gupta emphasized the importance of startups in India’s economic and social landscape. Nine years ago, our honorable PM and the Hon Minister introduced ‘National Startup Day,’ I truly believe it needs to be celebrated with the same grandeur we give to Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, and so many others… Kyunki, why not?
Startups are the heartbeat of this nation,” Gupta said. India’s startup ecosystem has grown rapidly, becoming the third-largest in the world. Gupta expressed confidence that with continued support and innovation, India could soon become the top startup nation.
“Startups are more than just businesses—they’re engines of innovation, job creation, stories of risks and rewards, and global recognition. Credits to the founders from every corner of India: dreaming, hustling, building, and growing. I love nothing more than being one of them and supporting so many of them,” he added.
By celebrating “Entrepreneurs Ka Din,” Gupta aims to recognize the dreamers, doers, and risk-takers who drive the nation’s progress. His message highlights the need to acknowledge startups’ crucial role in shaping India’s future. “So here’s to the dreamers, doers, and risk-takers—Happy National Startup Day.
We’re just getting started. Jai Hind,” he concluded. (Jai Hind means “Victory to India” or “Long live India.”)
India’s thriving startup ecosystem
Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently praised the thriving startup ecosystem in India, particularly in regions outside the major business hubs. He highlighted a remarkable 200% increase in startup registrations in Nagaland last year. In his Mann Ki Baat address, the Prime Minister noted the impressive growth of India’s startup culture, especially in smaller cities.
He emphasized key sectors such as waste management, biotechnology, and logistics, where new startups are flourishing. “In a state like Nagaland, startups’ registration increased by more than 200 percent last year. Waste Management, Non-Renewable Energy, Biotechnology, and Logistics are the sectors in which the most number of startups are being noticed,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated.
PM Modi also mentioned the successful completion of nine years of Startup India, highlighting that over the past nine years, more than half of the startups formed in India are from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. “Just a few days ago, Start-Up India completed nine years. More than half of the startups that have been formed in our country in these nine years are from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, and this makes every Indian heart delighted with the fact that our startup culture is not limited to just big cities,” PM Modi pointed out.
The Prime Minister also emphasized the significant role women play in these ventures, noting that the daughters of India lead many startups in smaller cities. PM Modi reflected on the transformation of India’s startup culture over the past decade, stating that a hub of innovation and opportunity has replaced skepticism about entering the startup world. He encouraged young people to seize the new opportunities emerging across the country.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the achievements of Bengaluru-based space-tech startup, Pixxel, which successfully launched India’s first private satellite constellation, “Firefly,” marking a significant milestone for the nation’s technological capabilities.
