The Directory of Open Access Journals is an online resource that has the objective of providing instant access to free and quality-controlled scientific and scholarly journals. The site aims to cover all subjects and languages, and as of this date the site collects almost 3,500 journals.
What’s more, approximately 191,000 articles are included in the DOAJ service. The site features a navigation menu that can be found on the left-hand side of the main page. This navigation menu is made up of four items, namely “Find Journals”, “New Titles”, “Find Articles”, and “Suggest a Journal”. On the other hand, a search tool is featured, as are two alphabetical indexes that allow the visitor to browse through the featured articles both by title and by subject. Other sections of the website that merit a mention include the ones geared towards journal owners and authors. For its part, sponsors are catered for in the pertinent page.
