Apple has unveiled the new Beats Powerbeats Pro 2 earbuds. They are targeting fitness enthusiasts who want more than just music from their audio gear. The updated earbuds keep the wrap-around design of the original 2019 model.

They are priced similarly at $250. The standout feature of the Powerbeats Pro 2 is the addition of heart-rate monitoring. LED optical sensors in the earbuds pulse more than a hundred times per second to measure blood flow.

This allows users to track their heart rate during workouts. It could potentially replace the need for a separate fitness tracker. The new model has undergone a design upgrade for a better fit.

The earhooks have been reinforced with a nickel titanium alloy. This makes them 20% lighter than the previous version. For 2025, the earbuds now include active noise cancellation.

This helps block out unwanted sound. They also have a transparency mode that lets users hear their surroundings without removing the earbuds. Another notable improvement is the redesigned charging case.

It is 33% smaller than the original.

The case supports both USB-C and Qi wireless charging.

The earbuds offer up to 10 hours of use on a single charge. The case extends the total battery life to 45 hours. A quick five-minute charge can provide 90 minutes of listening time.

The Powerbeats Pro 2 is compatible with both iOS and Android devices. Android users will need a companion app to access all features. These include one-touch pairing, customizable controls, and locating misplaced earbuds.

The new earbuds retain the tactile on-ear buttons from the original. This allows users to control music, invoke Siri, and adjust volume without needing to use their phone. The new Powerbeats Pro 2 boasts a redesigned acoustic architecture for improved sound quality.

It also includes support for spatial audio. The earbuds are rated IPX4 for sweat and water resistance. They are available in four colorways, including a vibrant Electric Orange.

At $250, the Powerbeats Pro 2 remains one of the pricier options for workout earbuds. However, it promises a range of advanced features and improvements. These new earbuds are available for purchase starting today.
