Beacon AI, a Silicon Valley-based company, has raised $15 million to develop AI systems for airline pilots. The funding round was led by Costanoa Ventures, with participation from Scout Ventures, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, and JetBlue Ventures. The company aims to improve flight safety and efficiency through its AI-powered tools, including Murdock, an AI-powered pilot assistant, and Lighthouse, a data platform and flight management system.
CEO Matt Cox, who has a decade of experience as a naval aviator and 20 years as a pilot, stated, “We are building something I wish I had in my decade as a naval aviator and 20 years as a pilot.” The funding will be used for hiring, gaining new clients, and delivering the technology to both commercial and defense clients. Beacon AI is part of a growing trend of travel startups leveraging AI to enhance various aspects of the industry.

AviLabs, based in Reykjavik, raised $8.7 million to help airlines manage flight disruptions more efficiently by automating guest communication and tasks such as rebooking, hotel bookings, and meal vouchers. In the tours and activities sector, Singapore-based GlobalTix raised $5 million to integrate AI into their ticketing and distribution technology.
Vouch, another Singapore-based startup, secured $2.5 million to enhance its hotel management software with personalized upselling and multi-language AI chatbots. Other notable funding rounds include Jet.AI’s $2.4 million for its CharterGPT app, which helps consumers search for private jet availability using natural language, and A.M.A Selections’ $1.6 million for its luxury vacation rental platform. Despite a slower pace of funding in recent weeks, these eight travel startups collectively raised nearly $40 million, demonstrating continued investor interest in innovative travel solutions powered by artificial intelligence.
