Wizards of the Coast has revealed a sneak peek at two new cards from the upcoming Magic: The Gathering set, Foundations. The set is designed to be accessible for both new and experienced players, featuring favorite characters from across the game’s multiverse. The first preview card is Zimone, Paradox Sculptor.
Zimone focuses on counters and their doubling, a departure from her usual landfall theme. She distributes two +1/+1 counters every combat and allows players to double the counters on two targets when her ability is activated. Zimone is expected to be a popular choice as a commander deck leader and fits well in decks that utilize +1/+1 counters.
Zimone and Blasphemous Edict preview
The second preview card is Blasphemous Edict. This card combines the themes of the classic red board wipe, Blasphemous Act, and the instant that coined the term “edict” for cards that force players to sacrifice a creature.
Blasphemous Edict reduces its cost to a one-mana board wipe if enough creatures are present, offering a powerful effect while avoiding protection abilities like Indestructible. However, Blasphemous Edict does have some drawbacks. It requires a crowded board to be effective, but any card that can potentially affect up to 52 creatures in a commander game for as little as one black mana is sure to generate significant interest.
The Foundations set promises exciting new mechanics and beloved characters, making it a highly anticipated release for Magic: The Gathering fans of all experience levels. The set is set to release on November 15.
