With Hangouts being one of the most lauded features of Google Plus, the release of services that try and ape that functionality is only to be expected. And that’s precisely what Watch2gether stands for. It’s a platform for watching videos with friends. This service (which is provided for free, and that can be used without signing up first) enables anybody to create a live video session to which he can have all his friends invited.
Sessions are created by choosing a username, and then picking these videos that one wants to have played. People are invited by sending them the unique URL that goes with each room. And once the actual session has started in earnest, participants can comment on what they’re watching thanks to the provided chat window.
A service likeWatch2gether is obviously focused on letting people have some fun watching the latest memes along with the most recent music videos. But there’s no reason why people wouldn’t be able to share work-related media through it.
