VooEasy is the first-ever “team-based” social network. It is designed so that a group of acquaintances can play on the site as one “name” (but not one account) – similar to what friends do in MMORPG games.
Here is an excerpt of our marketing material to describe the concept of “Teams”:
Why “Teams”? Think about it, you already have a life! But corralling it all into one place where you can express it can be tough. One of the great things about VooEasy is it’s open enough for you to express all the different aspects of you. You can express yourself as a team with people you already know. What are some of the communities you have? What are some groups of people you already share ideas with? You can invite people in those groups to make up a ‘Team’. And as a team, you can blog, comment, write memos, and answer questions together as one entity.
Here is an example of user Marie Voo’s Teams:
Voo siblings – for Marie and her brothers and sisters
My Yoga class – for Marie’s yoga classmates
Travel friends – for friends Marie travels with
Volunteer group – for Marie’s co-volunteers at a homeless shelter
Stella’s tea house – for the people Marie meets for tea on Wednesday nights
Why VooEasy.com It Might Be A Killer
Teams would create truly “viral” invitation letters. People receive invitation letter from VooEasy in the name of their friend requesting them to join an online team, with a position already assigned to the invitee (e.g. spokesman, founder, go-to-guy).
In addition, VooEasy provides other “social means” other than personal profiles, blogs, photos and music for individual members and “teams” –
1. VooCard: Rather than uploading a personal picture, the user has the option of providing an easy-to-edit VooCard which is used as personal identification. Each team can also have its own “Team VooCard”.
2. Thoughts: Everyone can write a “thought”, which is like a simple blog except you can easily “quote” data from Amazon, Yahoo!, Google and others via web services API. Anyone can create a picture-laden content within a minute.
3. Stuff: People upload photos of their items with an option to mark it with a price for sales. This allows a group of people to host garage sales together.
4. Memo: More like short messages that you can jot down and even set up an alarm to send to a friend sometime in the future.
5. VooPal: A virtual pal which can be set up to “auto-chat” with visitors for fun effects.
