Utrecht.cc – Find Music Videos on YouTube

Utrecht.ccWant to find videos of your favorite artists on YouTube? Utrecht aims to be the tool to let you do it. My personal favorite band right now is The Shins, and I hit gold when I searched the site for their videos.

It was quite distracting from the task at hand, actually..which was reviewing the site. The only downside is that it took forever (!) for the video to download and I never did get the site and its text to fully download. That of course was slighly offset once one of my favorite Shin’s songs started playing, but again, this is a review of the quality of the site (and the song kept getting interrupted by the slow downloading…argh!). They also linked your favorite artists to like-minded artists and their videos and all of the albums were available for puchase through Amazon. Other sites like this exist, but this is the first to use videos to reel you in and get you to buy the CD, as least in my experience. I like the premise and the search function is as easy as pie…but is there no way to improve the timing of the download and is there no way to read the full text of the site and its purpose/mission? Also, why wouldn’t I just go to the source – YouTube – and find these videos easily?

Why Utrecht.cc It Might Be A Killer

This site is for people like me that are obsessed with music and anything related to their favorite artists. To see all the videos of my favorite groups in one central location is highly coveted and likely will be a desired feature for many in the MTV generation (i was coming-of-age at the very beginning of this thing called MTV). The main question is why I wouldn’t just go to YouTube to find these same coveted videos through an easy search request?

Some Questions About Utrecht.cc

Why are there no easy links to put these videos on your blogs or social networking profiles? Also, while it is great for Amazon that you can link to their site and purchase the album, is there any way to link to a page to just download a song, like iTunes? Or is that illegal/impossible? They might also want to link to books or magazine articles about the artists, as people like me crave information and fun reading. They could even form partnerships with different music magazines to link to each other’s sites and share profits or figure out some lucrative scheme. But, finally and maybe most importantly, why wouldn’t I just go to YouTube and find these videos easily? Is the innovation the connection with Amazon? Utrecht.cc
