New comer Uncooped is a social network for outdoorsy, adventuresome types. Created by the same guys who came up with Curbly, the DIY home design site, Uncooped has a very similar setup.
The site revolves around communal anecdotes and instructional bits of wisdom. Members can embellish their tales of hiking through the tundra, camping in the deep dark woods, and the like with photos and breathless details. You’ll find topics dispersed amongst five categories: How-to, as in how to get the most out of your bandana, Gear, Q&A, Talk which seems to host random observations and questions, Popular for the crowd pleasing posts, and People, the place to get to know your fellow adventurers. Uncooped also has premium editorial content so you’ll get a pleasant mix of pro and am content.

Why Uncooped.com It Might Be A Killer
Great little niche site. Has a good mix of editorial and user generated content. It’s specific geared to a niche audience which other sites don’t really address, unless in minor sections. Over all clean aesthetic which isn’t at all noxious on the eyes.
Some Questions About Uncooped.com
The aesthetic leaves something to be wanted. It seems a little spread out; you can’t see that much stuff without having to scroll down, the lower part of the site with member photos and comments seems out of touch with the upper part and the range of content appears to be slightly ambiguous—elk watching to running races—does this site aim to stay strictly to calmer outdoor pursuits, e.g. fishing, watching the leaves change color, or will it inject more adventure into the mix?
