Ubisoft has announced the cancellation of its online appearance at the Tokyo Game Show due to “various circumstances.” The company has also canceled press previews for its upcoming game, Assassin’s Creed Shadows. The press previews were scheduled for next week, with the embargo date set to be announced at that time. Despite these cancellations, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is still slated for release on November 12, 2024.

However, the recent announcements have raised concerns about potential delays. Ubisoft provided a statement regarding the Tokyo Game Show cancellation, saying, “We regret to inform you that due to various circumstances, we have decided to cancel our online participation in Tokyo Game Show 2024, which was scheduled to start at 3:00 PM on September 26th. We apologize for the short notice.

We sincerely apologize to everyone who was looking forward to the broadcast.”

The company confirmed that the ongoing giveaway campaign would continue despite the broadcast cancellation. When reached for comment on the cancellation of the Assassin’s Creed Shadows press previews, Ubisoft did not respond.

The gaming community has expressed concerns and speculation about the reasons behind these cancellations. Some suggest that recent leaks and controversy surrounding Assassin’s Creed Shadows may have influenced Ubisoft’s decision. Ubisoft has faced financial challenges this year, with several games underperforming.

The company’s shareholders are also pushing for a restructure and the appointment of a new CEO. As of now, the exact reasons for the cancellations remain unclear, and it is uncertain how these developments will impact the future of Assassin’s Creed Shadows and other upcoming projects from Ubisoft.
