iOS 18 release date set for Sept. 16

Apple unveiled its new iPhone 16 lineup and Apple Watch Series 10 at its event on Monday. The tech giant also announced that iOS 18 would be released to the general public on Monday, Sept. 16.

Some of the new features developers and beta testers can try now include home screen customization. This allows for more personalized and functional home screens. T9 dialing is also available for faster dialing.

iOS 18 includes new options to lock and hide apps to increase app security. Users can resize widgets directly from their home screen. Emoji reactions let you use your favorite emoji to react to text messages.

Safari updates include a new location for the “Find On Page” feature. The Open App feature lets you customize your iPhone’s controls and lock screen.

Notes can now be organized with collapsible sections to make managing them easier. The calculator has been improved to convert distance, currency, and more. Maps enhancements include new features for creating custom hiking, walking, or running routes.

You can also mirror your iPhone screen to a Mac. Messages upgrades allow messages to perform simple math for you. iOS 18 is still in beta, so these features might be buggy or not work properly.

Apple said iOS 18 would be released on Monday, Sept. 16. The beta version can be downloaded now, but it’s recommended to use a device other than your primary one to avoid potential issues.

Apple Intelligence exclusive features are available for developers only at this time. More updates and tips on how to use the new iOS 18 features will be provided closer to the official release date.
