TwitPub is a new service that offers a functionality that to many Twitter should have implemented a long time ago: paid accounts. Of course, it is also a service that several others fervently oppose, claiming that it blurs the line of a service that has a clear contour, and that works perfectly as it stands.
Trying to reach some sort of middle ground, I feel it is fair to say that the concept of paid accounts is interesting in (very) specific cases. The most obvious one is that of professional advice.
In theory, a paid account also guarantees that the quality of the tweets themselves would be higher, so that (theoretically speaking – again) you would have a more effective tweeting time, or at least dispense with browsing through endless clutter.
It is a bit hard to say whether services like this one can make it or not, but if we were hard pressed most of us would say that they are fighting an uphill battle. If you want to arrive at your own conclusions, just pay the site a visit and sign up for a free account.
