fm does is to crawl Twitter for tweets that are music-related. Once one has been spotted, you can read the tweet and listen to the song by way of the provided play button.
For example, a prototypical tweet that comes up when using this service goes along the lines of “Listen to (artist”) playing (“song”)”. Twisten will let you hear the audio file which is being talked about on the spot.
A service like this one is not only suited to music lovers everywhere, but it also doubles as an excellent tool for self-promotion. Just think of the outreach any artist could have through it and you will find it hard to argue that it will have more than one aspiring pro musician out there coming back for more.
At the end of the day, I can’t help but be truly amazed by the recent Twitter apps and related services that have surfaced. If this is not going to be the year of Twitter, I just don’t know who will take the champagne off the ice instead.
