If the ‘80s fanzines had been to creative writing classes and existed in the blogosphere, they would be Stereogum.com.
This blog is run by a rather small editorial team made up of five men who write generally very good and exceptionally excellent pieces on rather forgotten rock bands, obscure startups, all time classics, hands-down favourites, fallen idols and cult-albums. Plus the site hosts an impressively large amount of mp3s who are free to be downloaded, as they have the consent from its authors to allow free and generous diffusion. As happens with many rock lovers (devotees, almost), it is hard to define what exactly it is that the editorial line favors, as there are pieces on the most diverse subjects, and gods and rock’s evil-doers and disgraces tend to live together in merriment. Besides from the downloading, in the site you will be able to read fine comment, deliriously exquisite internet clipping and take a look at some videos (from YouTube, mostly), plus find out about a large net of cool blogs you’ve probably never heard of.
