Steekr is the virtual hard drive, allowing you to drag-and-drop your files from your computer to your steekr virtual storage space. You get up to 1GB totally free.
You can keep the files private or share the files of your choice, simply by emailing them your download link. If you want to allow your shared files to be editable, you can allow that as well, making this site perfect for group projects at work. My favorite application, though, is being able to listen your itunes library or other digital music anywhere! You simply download the music into your steekr account, login to your account on any computer and – voila! – there is your music library. I assume you can share these files as well, although I know itunes is finnicky about those kinds of things (for their profit reasons, of course). Overall, this is an excellent new product and service.
Steekr.com In Their Own Words
Steekr is the easiest way to share files on the web. As soon as you sign up, you can upload files using either the web or via the steekr client software. Files uploaded to you account can be accessed from anywhere using your login and password, and you can share steekr access links for specific files by email.
Why Steekr.com It Might Be A Killer
This is the easiest way I have seen to download and share your computer files, including photos, music and documents. Better yet, you get up to 1GB free.
Some Questions About Steekr.com
The site was developed in France; are they reaching the American audience too? Do they have enough paid subscribers to make a profit? They say they are continuing to improve the service; what are they doing? Finally, have they considered changing their obscure tag line?
