The publisher of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, Focus Entertainment, has addressed concerns from the game’s community about a lack of new content. The company outlined its plans for upcoming updates and features, reaffirming its commitment to supporting the game through 2025 and beyond. Space Marine 2 had a record-breaking launch, selling 5 million copies and becoming the fastest-selling Warhammer video game ever.
However, some players have recently expressed frustration over the perceived lack of new content from developer Saber Interactive. Focus Entertainment stated that players can expect new skins, PvP and PvE maps, custom PvP lobbies, a Horde mode, PvE prestige ranks, and new weapons throughout the year. The upcoming Datavault update, scheduled for February with patch 6.0, will bring a perks rework and a Field of View (FOV) slider for PC players.
While implementing the FOV slider has been technically challenging, we’ve finally managed to produce a slider worthy of our standards,” Focus Entertainment said. Patch 6.0 will also introduce a new PvP map called Tomb, set in a Necron tomb beneath the surface of Demerium.
New Warhammer 40k content unveiled
This closed environment features narrow passages for close-quarters combat and wider areas for varied battle styles. The Biovore, a formidable new PvE enemy, will appear in all maps with Tyranids. It is dangerous at both long range and in melee combat, deploying Spore Mines that players must destroy before impact.
Other additions include the Salamanders Champion for the Sniper class, new cosmetics for the Raven Guard, and the Datavault area in the Battle Barge. The Datavault will contain unlockable information and cosmetic rewards, obtained using a special currency earned through in-game achievements called Ordeals. Focus Entertainment also announced a rework of some perks to make them more satisfying and engaging.
New features include finisher animations, the ability to upgrade Armoury Data to Relic status, a new difficulty mode with exclusive cosmetic rewards, and PvP crossplay options for console and PC players. The publisher expressed gratitude to its players for their support and patience, stating, “Space Marine 2 has been out for four months, and your continued enthusiasm means the world to us. We’re committed to delivering polished updates, which takes time and care.”
