SortFix.com is an interesting new search engine dedicated to eradicating some annoyances users experience with the larger search engines.
SortFix claims that, by using “Power Words” (suggested keywords which help full-question queries yield more accurate and relevant results), users can enter a series of search terms which will be answered directly and completely. Users click and drag the “Power Words” into a “basket” and remove them as necessary to produce the desired result. For example, when “Why is the sky blue” was queried, not only did the search engine produce a page with the right answer, the answer was displayed in bold typeface on the actual search result page. The site performed similarly with more complex questions, Confused? SortFix has an introductory animated video which cleverly and amusingly explains how to use their site. Ready for more? SortFix offers an array of “Expert” options for the advanced user, including synonym (and/or) searches and a “query tree” which displays search history.
