Sony held its PlayStation State of Play event on September 24, 2024, showcasing over 20 upcoming PS5 and PS VR2 games from various studios worldwide. The 30-minute event was packed with exciting announcements and reveals. One of the most significant announcements was “Ghost of Yōtei,” the follow-up to Sucker Punch’s hit game “Ghost of Tsushima.” Set in 1603, players will take on the role of Atsu, a new Ghost, as she journeys through the scenic lands surrounding Mount Yōtei.

The game promises sprawling grasslands, snowy tundras, and an atmospheric, action-packed adventure. It is set to release in 2025. In October, “Alan Wake 2” will receive its first DLC, “Lake House. ”

Players will step into the shoes of Federal Bureau of Control agent Kiran Estevez, who returns to investigate a catastrophic event at an FBC research station near Cauldron Lake. Blumhouse Studios is publishing “Fear the Spotlight,” a nostalgic tribute to 90s PS1-era horror by Cozy Game Pals. Players follow Vivian and Amy as they face the terrifying consequences of a séance gone wrong.

It will debut on PS5 and PS4 on October 22, 2024. In “Towers of Aghasba,” players must rebuild their civilization and ecosystem in a striking fantasy world. This action-adventure builder will enter early access in November 2024.

Koei Tecmo announced the release date for “Dynasty Warriors: Origins.” Set to launch on January 17, 2025, the game shifts towards a tactical action RPG format, exploring the origins of Zhang Jiao and the Yellow Turban Rebellion. “Monster Hunter Wilds” will be available on February 28, 2025. The game promises an expansive wilderness filled with colossal and ferocious monsters.

Sony teases new PlayStation adventures

The remastered version of Horizon Zero Dawn, originally released in 2017, will be available on PS5 and PC on October 31. It will receive next-gen polish.

Fantasian Neo Dimension,” a turn-based JRPG featuring beautifully hand-crafted environments, launches on December 5, 2024. BioWare fans were treated to an extensive look at “Dragon Age: The Veilguard,” which will be released on October 31, 2024. Moon Hand Studios unveiled “The Midnight Walk,” a dark fantasy adventure featuring claymation visuals.

It will release on PS5 and PS VR2 in Spring 2025. Rogue Factor revealed “Hell is Us,” a new third-person action game set in a mysterious war-torn country. It will be available in 2025.

The PSVR2 exclusive “Metro Awakening” dives into the origin story of the series character Khan. This intense VR experience will launch on November 7, 2024. “Hitman: World of Assassination” will also be available in VR, with intuitive controls and room-scale implementation.

The release date is set for December 2024. The classic “Soul Reaver” series gets a remaster with high-definition visuals and 60 FPS. It will be released on December 10, 2024.

Stellar Blade” will feature a crossover with “NieR: Automata” through an upcoming DLC, adding new elements and a photo mode. This year’s September State of Play was a compact but thrilling showcase, spotlighting a diverse array of games that promise to elevate the PlayStation experience in the coming months.
