Anyone who has a boring 9-5 job with minimal supervision appreciates fun little things to do online to pass the time. One such toy is SketchSwap, a weirdly addictive site that lets you create a drawing (using your mouse or touchpad) and submit it in exchange for a previously submitted sketch done by someone else.
There are a couple of guidelines however; you can’t submit anything sketchy (no pun intended), the drawing must actually be of something and not just a line or a dot, and if you want to include text with your submission it must be in English. You can also take a look at their small gallery of some of the cooler submissions for inspiration.
SketchSwap.com In Their Own Words
“In Sketch Swap, you draw something on the screen, and when you’re finished, you hit “Submit drawing”… to receive a random drawing from someone else”.
Why SketchSwap.com It Might Be A Killer
This application is inexplicably fun and addicting. It’s perfect for anyone that needs to kill some time but wants to do so in a somewhat constructive manner; anyone creative in the slightest will appreciate this site. All sketches have been approved by the content manager, so you don’t have to worry about any lewd or violent content.
Some Questions About SketchSwap.com
It’s pretty hard to control the site’s drawing tool, so this application might work best for users with a touchpad and a pen input. Right now, the site is limited to sketches produced only on the site itself; could the site could expand to allow artists to upload their work and swap it? It would be great if the site charged aspiring artists a small fee to swap their work with contact info attached, thereby generating profit for Sketch Swap and publicity for the artist.
