Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha reviewed the Republic Day parade in Jammu. He highlighted the ambitious ‘Mission YUVA’ initiative, which aims to transform the region into a hub of entrepreneurship. The program prioritizes first-generation entrepreneurs, youth, and women, especially those from remote areas of Jammu and Kashmir.

It encourages the establishment of new businesses in various growth sectors and aims to scale up existing enterprises. The mission promotes knowledge-based enterprises and innovative startups, providing a nurturing environment for these ventures. Recruitment and training initiatives include the National Urban Livelihood Mission and the National Rural Livelihood Mission.

Plans are in place to transform 40,000 rural women into ‘Lakhpati Didis’ (women earning significant income) and establish 20 hubs dedicated to women’s empowerment. Following changes in reservation policies, over 550 individuals with disabilities have secured government jobs. The Legends League will mark the return of international cricket to Jammu and Kashmir for the first time since 1988.

Water sports and fencing academies are being set up, with plans for high-performance training centers in every district. Gulmarg will host the Khelo India Winter Games in February, promoting sports and tourism in the region. After inaugurating the ‘BRICS Youth Council Entrepreneurship Run-Up Event’ at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Jammu, Lieutenant-Governor Manoj Sinha said the industrial ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed unprecedented improvement in the past few years.

The Lieutenant-Governor highlighted transformative initiatives through the Department of Industries & Commerce, which have redefined the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem and empowered the youth of the UT. He shared key initiatives, including Mission Yuva, aimed at developing a business support ecosystem for J&K’s enterprising youth.

He spoke about reforms in the education sector with a dedicated focus on skilling the youth in the technology of Industry 4.0.

The L-G emphasized the need to bridge the academia-industry disconnect to meet future challenges. He stated that human resources should be equipped with the skills required by the market and industries. Speaking on the industrial revolution taking place in the UT of Jammu and Kashmir, the L-G said the result of the central sector industrial development scheme is now visible in J&K.

He also emphasized the role of educational institutions and youth in developing India as a knowledge economy and realizing the vision of Viksit Bharat. The industrial ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed an unprecedented improvement in the past few years, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said on Friday. He attributed the growth to the government’s efforts and policy interventions that have transformed the Union Territory into a vibrant startup hub.

Sinha urged the youth to dream big, dedicate themselves, and contribute to the development of the region to propel its growth trajectory to new heights. The day-long event provided a dynamic platform for innovators, aspiring entrepreneurs, and youth leaders to showcase innovative business ideas and entrepreneurial initiatives. Sinha highlighted the government’s efforts to develop an entrepreneurial ecosystem in the Union Territory.

He stated, “Our sincere efforts and policy interventions have made J&K a vibrant startup hub.” He added that various transformative initiatives by the government, through the Department of Industries and Commerce, have redefined the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem.
