Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Gurugram have emerged as the top three startup hubs in India for 2024, according to a recent report. These cities have fostered thriving ecosystems that support innovation and entrepreneurship. Bengaluru leads the pack with 98 entrepreneurs and 66 notable companies.
The city’s tech-savvy workforce and robust infrastructure have made it a magnet for startups. Mumbai follows closely with 73 entrepreneurs and 36 notable companies. As India’s financial capital, Mumbai offers access to funding and a diverse talent pool.
Gurugram secures the third spot with 34 entrepreneurs and 31 notable companies. Its proximity to Delhi and a growing number of incubators and accelerators have contributed to its success.
Top startup cities in India
Other cities in the top 10 include New Delhi, Chennai, Pune, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, and Jaipur. Each city brings unique advantages to the table, from strong academic institutions to specialized industries. The report highlights the role of government initiatives in nurturing the startup ecosystem.
Programs like Startup India and Digital India have provided funding, mentorship, and policy support to entrepreneurs. India’s startup landscape has also seen a significant increase in women’s participation. Over 73,000 startups now have at least one woman director, driven by factors such as affordable internet and a dynamic workforce.
As Indian startups continue to innovate and scale, they are attracting global attention and investment. With a growing domestic market and a pool of talented entrepreneurs, India is poised to remain a major player in the global startup arena.
