Sceneami is a new social site for movie lovers. By using it, they’ll be able to tell the world at large about these movies they have been watching more recently, and also to give each one of these a rating (from 1 to 5 stars). The idea is to let people discover movies that could strike a chord with them, at the same time that they get to make some new friends. From a theoretical point of view, this approach is close enough to perfect. Movies (along with music) are what give people a truly large sense of identity and belonging. Socializing with others based on these titles we are the fondest of can be but fruitful.
As far as design and layout go, Sceneami mostly plays it safe. The latest movies that have been shared are all highlighted on the homepage, and these that have received the highest ratings are grouped together. But something that must definitely be mentioned is that the site lets people create lists and have them publicly shared. The best ten action movies ever, the best movies starring this or that actor, the worst remakes in the history of all things … lists can revolve around anything that is celluloid-related.
Sceneami faces competition from sites such as Movietally and Boofi.

Shouldn’t a service like this one be better-integrated with Facebook and Twitter? Isn’t it too insular as it stands right now?
