Savethedevelopers.org – No More IE 6

Savethedevelopers.orgSavetheDevelopers is a not-for profit site that aims to improve the lives of developers with campaigns aimed at improving the internet. The current campaign is an attempt to eradicate Internet Explorer 6, the cause of many an incompatibility issue, by providing upgrades on their homepage.

Users can instantly upgrade to Internet Explorer 7, Firefox, Safari, or Opera. Their idea is to provide an unobtrusive option for developers to inform their visitors that there are more secure, stable browsers available instead of slapping them on the wrist and hiding content if they happen to be using IE6. Developers can place the SavetheDevelopers script on their sites and join a viral network currently dedicated to making IE6 extinct.

“Our current campaign focuses on assisting users in upgrading their Internet Explorer 6 web browser. This campaign will result in former IE 6 users having a more enjoyable experience on the web while (hopefully) creating a less stressful and complicated environment for web developers by hastening the retirement of an outdated browser.”
