Coffee Stain Studios’ open-world factory builder Satisfactory has seen a massive surge in popularity since its official 1.0 launch last week. The game, which first entered early access in 2019, has sold over 5.5 million copies during its eight years of development. The 1.0 update introduces new endgame content, including Tier 9 and Phase 5, which allows players to use Quantum Technology for more efficient off-planet shipping via a space elevator.
The update also adds powerful alien technology, such as portals for near-instant transportation and Dimensional Depots for efficient inventory management. Customization options have been expanded, allowing players to outfit their factories with windows, fences, and new paint finishes. Players can also personalize their experience by customizing their uniform, helmet, and build gun.
Achievements have been introduced with the 1.0 launch, covering the game’s core milestones, exploration, and even including a few humorous nods. However, these achievements will not be awarded retroactively due to changes implemented in this update.
Satisfactory hits peak player counts
The game’s popularity has skyrocketed since the 1.0 launch, with a concurrent player count record over five times greater than its early access peak. Before this week our highest CCU on Steam was 34K,” the official Satisfactory Twitter account announced. On the day Coffee Stain Studios celebrated this milestone, Satisfactory hit 168,821 peak concurrent users.
Just hours later, the factory simulator surpassed this number, reaching an all-time high of 186,158 players according to SteamDB data. In a significant announcement, Coffee Stain Studios confirmed that a console version of Satisfactory is now in development, although no specific release window has been provided. The studio has emphasized that the 1.0 release does not signify the end of Satisfactory’s development.
Instead, it marks a significant milestone for both the team and the game’s community. Satisfactory is currently available on PC.
