I used the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and OnePlus 13 side-by-side for the past several weeks. My routine has remained the same for years. I would enjoy using the latest OnePlus flagship, valuing its performance and cost-effectiveness.

Despite their merits, I always found myself returning to the Samsung Galaxy series once the review period was over.

As an old-school Galaxy Note fan, the Galaxy Ultra phones have kept me hooked with their excellent software and powerful hardware. However, 2025 is different.
OnePlus has stepped up its game with the OnePlus 13. The OnePlus mission has always been to provide top-tier performance without the high price tag. This year, the OnePlus 13 fulfills that promise.

The design is immediately impressive.
Although some old users don't agree, don't approve, and even have some jealousy. But I have to say that Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is Samsung's best mobile phone by far, which is largely due to One UI 7 and excellent 8 Elite. pic.twitter.com/oeTby5FFMK

It’s balanced and feels good in hand with its thin aluminum band, even though it’s technically thicker than the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The OnePlus 13 comes with a 16GB RAM variant for an additional $100, which is still cheaper than the base model of the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
This extra memory ensures that the phone remains snappy for years, ready for future AI advancements. The device is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, making it a performance monster. Gaming on this phone is fantastic.
Galaxy loyalists vs OnePlus enthusiasts
The 6,000mAh silicon-carbide battery is also noteworthy, providing two days of battery life. It supports 80W and 100W wired charging, significantly faster than Samsung’s 45W.
OxygenOS 15 is much improved, removing previous concerns and making it a pleasure to use. Camera performance, previously a weak point for OnePlus, has also improved significantly. The OnePlus 13 takes excellent photos, with notably better nighttime photography.
In some instances, I prefer its output over the Galaxy S25 Ultra, something I hadn’t expected. Despite a lack of groundbreaking hardware innovations, the Galaxy S25 Ultra remains a solid choice, especially for long-time Samsung fans. The display, a gorgeous panel, continues to dazzle with vibrant hues and customization options.
One UI 7 is silky smooth and backed by seven years of software support, ensuring long-term usability. The S Pen, though with fewer functions than before, is still a useful tool for tasks like scrolling through social media and taking quick notes. The Galaxy S25 Ultra may not have the newest battery or camera hardware, but it remains a top-tier performer in a sleek package.
While I prefer the OnePlus 13 for its refreshed design, robust battery life, and performance, I acknowledge that most people might find it hard to switch from the established ecosystem and support network of Samsung. If you’re an enthusiast seeking something new, the OnePlus 13 is a fantastic choice. If you prioritize support and longevity, the Galaxy S25 Ultra remains a safe and excellent option.
Both phones are incredible in their own rights, ensuring that whether you choose OnePlus or Samsung, you’re getting one of the best smartphones available in 2025.
