Rstat.us is a new microblogging platform. Whether releasing such a thing at this time is something really warranted can be discussed for hours on end, but it must be reckoned that Rstat.us is a truly easy-to-use application.
It adheres to the 140-character limit popularized by Twitter, and it lets you share your thoughts and/or what you are doing in real time.
In practice, Rstat.us feels like Twitter stripped down to its bare bones. There are no features that could distract you, or make you shift your focus anywhere else. There are no retweet buttons, it is not possible to add images to what you are posting… it is just you and your message.
Still, one has to wonder if Twitter as it stands is something that needs to be simplified. I have seldom come across people who could not figure out how to tweet. What they had trouble with was what to tweet.
In any case, I feel it is important to mention that Rstat.us is an open-sourced project. That means some might eventually take the whole platform, and have it turned into something more remarkable.
Rstat.us In Their Own Words
Microblogging has taken the world by storm. Millions of people around the world now share their thoughts with friends, family, and random strangers every day. Links are shared, stories are told, and events are discussed. rstatus is the newest place to participate in the collective conscious of the planet.
Why Rstat.us It Might Be A Killer
The fact the whole project is open source might just as well lead to some eventually-attractive development.
