Available for Windows and Mac, ReadCube is a free research management tool. This application lets you create a library of articles by importing all the PDFs that you’re using, at the same time that it lets you download related online content in just one click. You can then do whatever you want with that content. You can highlight parts of it, you can add sticky notes to the pages that are interesting, and you can have everything referenced. That is, ReadCube can look for online references for any piece that you’re writing. It can look for them, and have them inserted in the relevant parts of your text. And if ReadCube fails to get a reference, then that’s not a problem. You can add references yourself manually, one by one.
And ReadCube has got yet more uses, as the application can stay on top of the latest research on any topic for you. It can look at what’s being discovered and published, and recommend new articles to you day after day.
The newest version of ReadCube can be downloaded here, absolutely free of charge. Windows 7, Vista and XP along with Mac OS 10.4.9+ are supported as of the time of writing this.
