Here’s some unexpected trivia: The Register’s Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRAI) is a yearly seven-day long bike ride across the state of Iowa, and is the longest-standing of its kind, in the world. Loads of more cool data about the race can be found in Ragbrai.
org, which is the official race’s site; routes can be downloaded and printed, you can find important safety information for first-time riders and veterans alike, and even tips to start training. Other important resources to be found include a directory of local bike shops, campground etiquette, and an official apparel eCommerce area; while riders have campground fees included in their entry fees, it would still be nice to provide links to local hotels and accommodation, plus other hospitality services, like restaurants or attractions. Online registrations are also available, but they have closed for this edition of the race. While the site’s design is not too appealing, information is useful and easy to access; however, it would be nice to be able to discover some memorabilia, posters, pictures and media from past editions of the race: if not directly on the site, a library of links of interest would certainly be useful.
