The first thing you see when entering this site is photos of students doing their thing with a huge overprinted sign stating nothing more and nothing less than: “You Can Do This!” And since optimism and encouragement usually get left out of the picture in college sites, I was quite happy to find it in Pgcc.edu, official site of Prince George’s Community College.
This one-site-fits-all caters for the needs of all of the college’s audiences: prospective and existent students, faculty, staff and institutional needs. By taking a look around, users will be able to find everything they need to know about this 2-year College, including academic and athletic programs, a complete catalogue of the courses on offer, admission and financial matters, and even a virtual tour of campus. I was very happy to see that the prospective students area has a ‘To Do List’, which is nothing but a list of suggested links, but which definitely come in very handy to get ideas organized, something which can be harder than it sounds, especially when you are a teenager deciding what to do about your future. If you cannot attend lessons on-campus, take a look at the Distance Learning section to find out what your options are on this modality of tuition. By taking a look at the ‘News’ area users will be able to find about the community and cultural events that the College sponsors, supports or generates, so it is also a good way to get the general feeling of campus life. The only problem I found with Pgcc.edu is that their loading times are way too long. Hopefully they can solve this sometime soon.
