Path of Exile 2 is set to receive its final patch of the year, bringing significant changes to address the game’s brutal difficulty. Developer Grinding Gear Games aims to make the endgame experience less frustrating and more manageable for players. The patch will introduce improvements to underperforming skills, such as bow attacks, bone and chaos spells, and shield abilities.
This is particularly beneficial for players like witches who have struggled due to their thematically fitting skills being subpar. One major change targets the Trial of Sekhemas, a roguelike dungeon crucial for unlocking subclasses. The mechanic where players lost Honour, a secondary health bar, too quickly when close to enemies will be adjusted.
The patch will reduce the Honour damage taken near enemies and fix bugs that caused it to drain faster than intended, making melee combat less punishing.
Improving endgame balance and fairness
High-tier dungeons or maps will also see adjustments to make them more forgiving.
Monsters that previously left devastating effects upon death will no longer be able to wipe out players in a single hit. Changes to elemental resistances will make them less likely to plummet during high-tier maps, reducing the randomness of deaths that could eject players from dungeons empty-handed after a single misstep. Following a recent update that unexpectedly nerfed freezing skills, the cost of respecializing skill points will be lowered in the upcoming patch.
Grinding Gear Games emphasizes their commitment to making necessary nerfs without rendering builds ineffective. The full patch notes are expected to be released soon, after which the development team will take a break, indicating a quiet period for the game. Path of Exile 2 early access is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC.
Players can look forward to a more balanced and enjoyable experience with the upcoming changes.
