OpenFilm, which has recently opened its beta to the public, is forging a new video community featuring top quality, premium content. It has both a video library and a suite of social networking tools allowing young film makers and artists to connect and collaborate.
The site has also developed its own web video series; however, OpenFilm is targeting new content creators through partnerships with film schools and festivals. Contributors are to get a clean 50% cut of all ad revenue earned. Currently, film makers can pre-register and submit any original work be it live action or animation. Each selection is screened by the OpenFilm board members and once approved, they’ll be shown on a large custom video player. Submissions maybe sent in via mail, or uploaded to the site—there is no time limit.
