OKCupid for the upcoming elections, that’s what we are dealing with here. If you’ve got no idea who to vote on November 2012 (we’ve still got a long way to go, after all), then this site might just be what you need to start understanding which candidate is more like you. It’ll let you know as much after asking you lots of different questions. These cropped up when I tried out the site: “What are your views on the issue of abortion?”, “Do you believe same-sex marriages should be recognized and given the same rights as opposite-sex marriages?” and “In general, what do you think the government should do to federal tax rates, if anything?”. You’re always provided with lots of options to choose from, you’re given the chance to select the answers you’ll accept to any specific problem, and also to rate the questions that you answer by importance. Five different degrees are actually available: “Irrelevant”, “A Little Important”, “Somewhat Important”, “Very Important” and “Mandatory”.
It all goes into giving OKCandidate enough data to work out your own personality traits, and pairing you with the one candidate that would make you feel better-represented in the end.
One complaint I have is that while the homepage lists all the available candidates, it doesn’t provide you with information of any kind on them. It has their pictures, but you can’t click on them to learn more. Simply adding some links to Wikipedia should go into making that part of the site more interesting.
