Elevator Pitch:

Nomad House “builds spaces where digital nomads can live, work and retreat together”

Why It’s A Killer Startup:

I’m a digital nomad. I’ve been living outside the US (my home country) for over four years now. For the past two and a half years, I’ve been moving to a new country every few months. That means I’ve adjusted to a new space, new people, new food, language, apartment, everything more times in 2015 than most people do in their entire lives. And, as you can imagine, I’m always looking for tools or communities to help make the transitions just a little bit easier.

The latest one to pop onto my radar is Nomad House, which I’m sharing with you mainly because I think it has the right intentions, although I have to say that their focus does seem a little bit scattered.

Nomad House offers retreats for people who are interested in going to a new place and working with other “nomads.” It sounds to me like digital nomad-lite, by which I mean it looks like a good way for folks who maybe aren’t ready to take the plunge into full-time digital nomadism but are definitely down to dip their toes in the pool. Welcome to the club, guys!

The other thing that Nomad House offers is something they’re calling “Projects,” which appear to be nomad houses around the world that people can pay to live in. At the time of my writing this post, there’s a house in Berlin, Bali, Bangkok, and Siem Rep. I really like this idea, as one of the things I personally struggle with the most upon landing in a new place is figuring out how to meet people. The houses on Nomad House offer a quick and easy solution to that problem by putting you right in with other people who are in the same position as you.
