NearVerse is one of the many companies that develop apps and tools for mobiles that take the user’s location as the cornerstone of the services that they provide. In the case of this particular company, its first app (named “Lokast”) does something which is a bit different: those who connect through the app are empowered to share media among themselves.
That is, the basis of the system is sharing data such as photos and music with those in your close proximity.
This lends itself particularly well to professional uses, obviously. For example, budding musicians can resort to Lokast to market their own pieces, whereas photographers can do the same when it comes to promoting their work.
Coming back to musicians, I think that this app can be used splendidly by these bands that are looking for new members to audition. They can share demo recordings with potential candidates and show them what the band is all about on the spot. This saves everybody not only the journey to the rehearsal room but also the embarrassment of having to tell the hopeful candidate that he doesn’t cut it.
