The idea behind Myartplot (MAP) is that artists, artisans and crafters have suffered since the beginning of time from a lack of cohesion due to a deficiency in technology. MAP hopes to change that by providing a community portal where artists from around the world can exchange ideas and knowledge and publish and sell their works directly to the consumer.
The site is divided into two user groups: Participants aka artists, and Shoppers. Participants can showcase, share and sell their wares and also critique, discover and buy the work of other artists. Shoppers can connect with artists, explore their works, buy them, and ultimately enjoy them with the knowledge that they have helped to keep creativity alive by buying an original craft directly from the artist.
Myartplot.com In Their Own Words
“MyArtPlot (MAP) is a global community and movement of artists, artisans, enthusiasts, and buyers, fighting to create a united, supportive, and non-elitist arts and crafts world. Social, professional, and commercial tools thrive here. No more isolation and starvation.”
Why Myartplot.com It Might Be A Killer
Artists will love being able to freely showcase their works and increase sales by getting connected with a larger user-base outside of their local community. Shoppers will love being able to buy unique arts and crafts directly from the source at a low cost.
Some Questions About Myartplot.com
Currently, searching is facilitated by the selection of various categories and there is no search bar present. Have they considered adding this searching functionality so that people looking for something specific can find it easier? While they do offer a secure payment service, they don’t take care of the shipping and handling. Artists, especially those in the developing world, might have a difficult time figuring out how to ship the goods after the sale. A great addition would be posting the price of the good with an included shipping cost that MAP would take care of processing and delivering.
