It has the objective of delivering the most popular news on the web by aggregating sharing activity on popular social media sites including Twitter and Friendfeed. I am sure you have all not just seen but actually used a news aggregator in the past, so that I don’t have to explain that it collates news from all over the web and how they are promoted and demoted as users vote on them.
The LinksAlpha team considers that with the exponential growth in the userbase of Twitter news rankings which derive from social sharing activity are the most relevant ones today.
