This site saves energy while people shop for anything that Amazon.com sells due to its black background.
There is a debate as to how much it will save but there is no doubt that environmentally conscious people will see the benefit in shopping at this amazon.com affiliate store. This site was designed primarily for the elegance to be found in a black background, but the energy savings to be had in a black background will make even more of a difference as the total amount saved decreases. For example if you save 25 watts of a total usage of 100 watts you’ve saved 25%, but if you save 2 watts of a total of 4 watts you’ve saved 50%. They use these figures as total wattage used in monitors is going down with the implementation of LCD screens and once all screens are LCD then a black background will make much more difference in overall consumption.

Sooner or later maybe 50 to 75 years from now when all fossil fuels are gone and everyone on the planet has Internet access black background sites will be in vogue if not mandatory to save all the energy that is possible.
