Klosti is Greek for thread. It’s also English for money-making. Not really, but the site is giving photographers an advertising platform to connect with models and fashion retailers to potentially rake in some revenue. We caught up with founder, Suriafur Ken, to find out how he plans on monotizing your fashion photos.
How’d you come up with the name Klosti?
We came up with several names and end up with Klosti. It has no meaning in English but in Greek it translates to Thread. It suits our project since we are about fashion photography and e-commerce.
What’s the very first thing you do at work everyday?
I open my favor[ite] app PULSE and start reading tech news before checking my email. My partner will start his day by meditating.
Remember the early days starting up? Maybe you can share one anecdote that describes the struggle you went through?
The first time I talked about this idea to my partner, he really liked it, but the hardest part is to convince the paid customer to like us too.
I believe our concept is totally new for fashion retailers. They are supposed to be our paid customer and it is always the hardest part to get in touch with the right guy behind the big fashion retail company, so we are still struggling with it.
What’s your office environment like? Is it the kind of place where everyone is bumpin’ away to house music or is it more traditional?
We are working in a room where you can only see a table with two laptops on it. We love to listen to music so we always play music.
How do you picture Klosti in 5 years?
Klosti will be a one stop place for Photographers and Models to monetize their fashion photography, Fashionistas to get inspired by others and Fashion Retailers to increase their sales.
Who or what inspires you?
People who inspire me are Jack Dorsey and Jack Ma, but Photography inspired me to come up with this idea.
Got any great bootstrapping tips for the lean startups out there?
Don’t be afraid to share your idea especially when no one has done it before. You will hear a lot of great feedback from others.
What would you be doing if you had one year off and $500,000 to spend?
I would travel with my girlfriend Fiona and after that I would invest in an early stage company/start-ups in my country.
Do you consider yourself a successful entrepreneur right now?
No not at all. Not Until the day my product can dramatically make people’s life better.
Website you couldn’t live without and why?
Quora because you find a lot of good questions and answers.
What’s the greatest thing about Klosti?
Klosti is a whole new way to turn fashion photography into a weekly/monthly revenue.
