Are you a star waiting to be discovered? Do you have the talent to become part of the UK’s next reality hit show? If so, islandoo.com is your oasis in the casting desert.
Islandoo started as a casting site just for the show “Shipwrecked,” but now it has opened up to any TV producer, film director, or model scout for casting. Casting directors can post their opportunity on Islandoo and find new talent by searching the profiles and applications of interested Islandooers. Anyone who wants a shot at being famous can put their information on Islandoo along with photos and/or videos. Once their profile is finished, they can apply for as many opportunities as they want. Islandooers have other fun options on the website including making friends, sending them gifts, and creating a party page to promote a get-together. Parties can be private (invite only to Islandooers and non-Islandooers alike) or public (open to everyone) and works kind of like Evite where invitees can view the attendance list. The idea is that reality life’s a beach and Islandoo itself is the party, and it conveniently connects a huge talent pool of giddy reality wannabes with the exact casting directors who are looking to cast them.
Islandoo.com In Their Own Words
“Film, TV, advertising, music videos and theatre are all welcome. We’ll post any legitimate opportunity. Opportunities that fit the Islandoo user base (mainly 18 to 25 year-olds) well will be promoted most heavily on the front page of the site and in the newsletter.
There are some restrictions. We do attempt to verify that the casting opportunity is genuine. We do attempt to ensure the opportunities are within some boundaries of taste.
This open casting system is a new venture for Islandoo. We anticipate our policies will evolve as we better understand the needs of casting teams and the desires of the Islandoo community.”
Why Islandoo.com It Might Be A Killer
The vibe on Islandoo.com is like a party and the best part is that it’s free. No agent fees, no casting fees, just a bunch of kids ready to get famous. The casting directors are supplied with talent up to their elbows and even though few will get through to actual fame, it is still great publicity.
