Focused on Italy, France, Germany, the UK, and Spain, Hyves is a popular social networking site in Europe. Available in at least six languages, it offers all the usual amenities of a social networking site, including profiles, blogs, photos, videos, groups and messaging.
There is nothing new or innovative about this site, but that doesn”t seem to matter in this universe. People love these sites all over the world, so it will take a truly independent and bored user to push the boundaries and functions of these Myspace-esque sites. To its credit, the site is looking for more employees and claims their desire to expand the services of the site is outpaced by their ability to staff the site. Also to its credit, I was not bombarded by ads when opening the site. Finally, proving their popularity I suppose, they recently had a successful Hyve party, allowing the virtual community to meet in real life at a hip club with a hip DJ.
