Tech Startup Bridges Healthcare Gap for Underprivileged Children Across Asia and Africa

In an era where technology continues to transform lives, Helpster Charity US Inc. has emerged as a beacon of hope for underprivileged children and families in need of medical care. Founded in 2023 and headquartered in Dover, Delaware, this innovative tech charity is leveraging digital solutions to connect donors with children who lack access to essential healthcare services across Bangladesh, Cambodia, Nigeria, Kenya, and Sri Lanka.

The stark reality in many developing nations is that children often suffer or die simply because their families cannot afford vital medical care. Helpster’s founders, Nikita Kuzmin and CEO Kate Lysykh, saw an opportunity to bridge this gap through technology. Their solution? A transparent, user-friendly platform that enables direct connections between donors and verified medical cases.

“No child should suffer or die due to financial constraints,” emphasizes the organization’s mission statement. This driving principle has already led to remarkable results – over 700 children have received life-saving medical care through Helpster’s platform, with another 300 cases currently awaiting funding.

How It Works

Helpster’s process is both rigorous and efficient. The organization receives cases from trusted community volunteers, NGOs, parents, and hospitals. Each case undergoes careful verification based on three key criteria: poverty level, medical urgency, and treatment requirements. To ensure focused impact, Helpster accepts cases with treatment costs below $1,500 USD and maintains a strict admission rate of 62.5%.

The verified cases are then displayed on Helpster’s website and mobile app, where donors can browse and choose specific children to support. The platform’s transparency sets it apart – donors can track their contributions end-to-end, with full documentation available for public access. A small portion (5-7%) of donations goes toward transaction charges and currency exchange losses, ensuring maximum impact of every dollar contributed.

Making a Difference

The organization’s impact extends beyond individual cases. Helpster has conducted over 12 medical outreaches, touching the lives of more than 5,000 indigent families across Asia and Africa. Their work spans over 70 medical conditions, including malaria, appendicitis, urology surgeries, severe hernia, liver/kidney diseases, fractures, and pneumonia. Remarkably, the average cost of saving a life through Helpster is just $200 USD.

Founder Nikita Kuzmin’s vision for Helpster extends far beyond the present. “We want to create an efficient and transparent tool that allows anyone to provide immediate assistance to those who need it most,” he explains. Kuzmin hopes that the children helped today will grow up to help others, creating a self-perpetuating cycle of kindness and support.

Looking to the Future

With a robust partner network and efficient admission process already in place, Helpster has set ambitious goals for the future. The organization aims to become the world’s leading charity tech platform within the next four years, with a mission to significantly reduce mortality rates caused by financial barriers to healthcare access in the world’s most remote and underserved regions.

Drawing inspiration from successful organizations like GiveDirectly, GoFundMe, Doctors Without Borders, and ShareTheMeal, Helpster continues to refine its approach while remaining open to partnerships that can amplify its impact.

As technology continues to break down barriers and connect people across the globe, Helpster stands as a powerful example of how innovation can be harnessed to address critical humanitarian challenges. Through their platform, they’re not just saving lives – they’re building a global community of compassion and support that has the potential to transform healthcare access for generations to come.
